Valentine Outreach on February 12

All are invited to this multi-generational event! From 3 -5 pm, we will gather and assemble Valentine Baskets with cookies, scripture, and more. We will deliver 32 baskets to our shut-ins and will mail baskets to our 19 college students. Fun for all ages as we reach out in LOVE!

First UMC is a partner with Humboldt Park Social Services, and much of our Outreach ministry is devoted to supporting the ministry of these incredible programs and people.

3rd Annual Plant & Garden Sale Benefits Mission

Need a gift for Mom on Mother’s Day? Creating a new garden? Come to our 3rd Annual Plant and Garden Sale on Saturday, May 12, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. It will be on the church lawn (by the north entrance on Grant Place).

All perennials and plants sold will be proven and seasoned plants that are grown throughout northern Illinois. Each perennial plant will be identified and have planting information attached. Plants will be potted in containers and ready for planting.

This is a great opportunity to find some older varieties or something new for your garden. Most plants will be sold for $5 each.

There will also be used and new garden novelties and hanging baskets of annuals just in time for Mother’s Day!

All proceeds benefit ministry and mission!

Come early for best selection. The sale opens at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Rain or shine. You can park directly north of the church in the church parking lot on Grant Place. Or park anywhere in the downtown area, shop the sale, and then drive up to pick up your plant purchases. Contact us if you need more information.

Preschool Help in Honor of Mothers

This year, many people will make contributions to honor their own mothers and other special women in their lives. The monies contributed will go to support ChildServ’s program for Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters. This program helps provide education and learning opportunities so that at-risk children are able to seamlessly enter kindergarten and succeed. We are thankful for the women in our lives and thankful for the legacy they continue to leave!

THIS SATURDAY, May 7th from 8:00 am – noon is the day of First UMC’s Second Annual Plant Sale! You won’t want to miss this! The sale is open to the entire community and beyond, as plant lovers and plant novices join together to find beautiful plants and receive tips to help keep them growing!

All proceeds support the Youth Mission Trip to Northeastern Arizona to a Navajo Reservation AND to help with community mission projects being planned for 9/11.

At the Chicago NW District Youth retreat at Wesley Woods, April 29-May 1, two youth from First UMC were elected to become youth officers for the 2011-2012 year! We can be quite proud of the leadership of these young people!
