Discipleship
First UMC offers dynamic, meaningful and Christ-centered learning experiences for children, youth and adults.
Children Sunday School is offered every Sunday during the 9:30 AM worship service, with an additional opportunity to stay for more crafts from 10:30 – 11:30 AM. On the First Sunday of the month, children remain in worship and may go to Sunday School at 10:30. Lessons are created using the Hands-On Bible curriculum, which encompasses a variety of learning styles such as art, dance, music, drama with puppets, computers, faith story telling and children-in-mi
ssion. First UMC incorporates a Safe Sanctuary policy to ensure the safety of all children and their leaders. Parents must pick up their children from Sunday School.
Youth Every Sunday youth begin lessons at 10:30 AM on the third floor which is designated as the Youth Floor. Middle school and senior high students meet in separate groups except on occasions when they explore a theme together for a specific lesson. We are using a curriculum that takes us deep into the scripture through drama, discussion, background information, and application exercises.
Adults Small group studies engage adults to grow in their faith. We are always seeking to go deeper. We do this through series during worship and Sunday morning classes. We also have several Bible Studies that meet throughout the year and covenant groups on occasion. Sunday morning classes are offered at 9:15 AM and 10:30 AM and are open to all!
At First UMC Park Ridge, “welcoming all” means that we see all persons as created in the image of God and bearing sacred worth and dignity. We invite all persons to participate fully in the life of our church regardless of age, race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or mental condition, marital status, family situation, or economic standing.
