Momentum for Life: Making Healthy Choice  (Parlor)  “If you can’t lead yourself, you won’t be effective at leading others. Self leadership precedes strategic leadership.” With this perspective, Michael Slaughter, lead pastor and chief visionary at Ginghamsburg, explains his model for daily living, which he has adapted from the Psalms of Ascent. His five life practices for balance and self-leadership together form the acronym: D-R-I-V-E: Devotion to God, Readiness for lifelong learning, Investing in key relationships, Visioning for the future, and Eating and Exercise for life.  Come learn to get a new momentum for 2012!

Book Study: Love Wins  (Parlor)  Rob Bell caused quite a stir with the book Love Wins, and we will read and enjoy some lively discussion led by Seminary student, Adrian Hill.  Come and consider grace, judgment, and salvation…

A Christian Understanding of Death and Dying  (Jorgeson)Join Bob and Lisa Campbell as they do a Bible study and discussion around death and dying.  This class will be especially important for those who have recently lost a loved one.

Sustaining Relationships  (Parlor) In this class, we will explore the fundamentals of healthy relationships, including compatibility, communication, conflict, connecting, and intimacy.  This class is sure to help strengthen any relationship and help foster relationships that are sustaining to both partners.

Countering Pharaoh: Restoring Covenant  (Jorgeson)  Join Old Testament scholar, Walter Bruggemann in exploring the systems of oppression in the Bible and consider ways they still impact life today.  “It is a journey from slavery to covenant that we keep making over and over again… [because] Pharaoh has immense power always to draw us back into slaver y.” – Walter Brueggemann

May 20 – June 3, 2012 at 10:30 am

Praying the Psalms  (Parlor) The Psalms are beautiful, as they express the deepest of human emotions.  In this class, we will read the psalms and consider ways of praying using the words of the psalmists.  Come ready to learn and pray!

Unpacking the Hymnal  (Jorgeson) The United Methodist Hymnal is full of treasures of theology and faith expressions.  We will read and sing words of new and old hymns.  Participants will suggest favorite hymns and discuss why those hymns are so important.
