Youth Mission Trips

July 30-August 6, 2011, our graduated 8th – graduated 12th grade students will travel to the community of Teec Nos Pos, with a group called the Sierra Service Project.  Teec (pronounced “teess”) is a remote community with a lot of housing needs.  This group’s experience in 2010 was wonderful in this very welcoming and accommodating community.

 ——————————————————————————–

Accommodations We are not sure of our facility situation yet, but you can expect very rustic conditions and lots of dirt and mud if it rains. You can also expect great projects, beautiful work sites and a wonderful introduction to the culture of the Navajo people.

——————————————————————————–

Type of Work The repair work will include roofing and a variety of construction work, including building porches, stairs, and wheelchair ramps.  Some homes may be up to an hour away due to the remote location.

 ——————————————————————————–

Climate Expect highs in the 90′s and nights in the 60′s, with possible afternoon and evening thunderstorms.  The elevation of the area is over 5,000 feet.

 ——————————————————————————–

Youth who wish to participate must sign up with Pastor Chill.  Limited spaces are available.  Cost to attend is $200 per participant.  Much fundraising will also be done in advance of this trip.
